The World in Reading is a thematic introduction to the rich and diverse collection at Reading Museum. The brief for this museum guide was to convey the sense of inspiration and enjoyment that can be derived from studying and handling real objects, whether they relate to Reading’s local historical and natural environment or other cultures around the world.

The design combines a contemporary palette, clean sans serif and flexible grid to show off the collection at Reading. Juxtaposition of different image treatments provides variety of colour, texture, shape, and scale.

The cover illustrates the breadth of the Museum collection and provides ‘teasers’ which hint at the treasures to be discovered.

MESSRS. DASH & DARE love complex typography (and, yes, dirty words) so we were delighted to give a twenty-first century makeover to a true dictionary classic, Partridge Slang. Nitty-gritty detailing for us to get our teeth into, and we certainly expanded our vocabulary!

Routledge Frequency Dictionaries

Routledge Frequency Dictionary series design

Frequency dictionaries provide language learners with core vocabulary based on the 5000 most commonly used words. Entries are indexed by frequency, in alphabetical order, and by part of speech.

Routledge Frequency Dictionaries are the only frequency dictionaries currently published in the UK. 16 titles have appeared since 2006 and, we are proud to say, are still being typeset to our original series design and typographic specification.
